What is Algebrakit

Algebrakit is a maths exercise engine that you embed in your own product through an API. It does not only check a final answer: it evaluates the mathematics at each step, so a student can work in whatever order or strategy they choose and get feedback on the step they are actually on.

Because the engine is rule-based rather than a set of predefined answers, it adapts to curriculum requirements and gives consistent responses.

What you get

Answer evaluation Any mathematically valid solution path is accepted: equations written in either direction, fractions or decimals, any number of steps.
Error feedback and hints Feedback is generated at the point the student is stuck, without the author having to predefine that mistake.
Exercise variation Randomised exercises produce different numbers for each student and each attempt.
Event data Marks, penalties, hints requested, errors made and a stream of learning events, exposed for your system to consume.
Curriculum range Primary to upper secondary: written arithmetic and story problems, algebra, equations and inequalities, geometry, graphs, matrices.

What your platform provides

Algebrakit renders the exercise and marks it. Everything around that stays yours:

  • Who the student is. Algebrakit never sees your user accounts. You decide who may open which exercise.
  • The page. Exercises are web components you place in your own layout, styled to match your product.
  • Storage of results. Marks are available from the API whenever you ask for them; your platform decides what to keep and what it means for a grade.
  • A server-side proxy. Your backend forwards the widget's calls and attaches the API key, so the key never reaches the browser.

How the pieces fit

  1. Server side, createSession returns a sessionId and a snippet of html.
  2. Your page loads the widget script from widgets.algebrakit.com and injects that html.
  3. The widget calls back through /proxy/algebrakit/*, where your server attaches the API key.
  4. getSessionScore returns the marks whenever you need them.

That is the whole integration. Run the demo does all four for you in about a minute, and System overview explains the same flow in more detail.

When you do not need any of this

If your content lives in Moodle or WordPress, a plugin already does the integration. Install it, paste your API key, and author Algebrakit questions inside the platform you already use. See Integrations.
